Hurricane Matthew has caused devastation in Haiti, a country still struggling to recover from the earthquake of 2010. Estimates place the death toll at over 1,300. Damage estimates are close to $1 billion dollars. 175,000 people were left homeless (in addition to 50,000 already still living in tents from the earthquake). Even prior to these disaster Haiti is one of poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Eighty percent of Haitians live in poverty.

One student attending Adoration Christian Centre (Word & Deed supported school in Port au Prince) was killed and many have lost members of their extended families.

Donations are welcome. Word & Deed is planning to undertake relief efforts in Haiti either directly or by partnering with a like minded organisation in a way that reflects concern for both the physical and spiritual well-being of the victims.  Please mark donations as "Haiti Hurricane Relief".  To donate visit our donation pages (Canada; US).

Please pray for the people of Haiti!
