Currently, La Palabra Christian School provides education for 460 children up to and including Grade 9 in the poor region of Monjas.  Students who complete Grade 9 at La Palabra continue to be supported in Grades 10-12 at other schools via the program although, since the school is young, there are only a handful of students in this position. However, La Palabra is now planning for the addition of Grades 10-12 and is proposing two specific program streams:

a) Computer Skills (A two-year program for Grades 10-11)
b) Marketing and Publicity (A three-year program for Grades 10-12)

The curriculum for Grades 10-12 will also include a strong Bible component, accounting basics for entrepreneurs, and writing courses, among other subjects. The need to teach young men and women what it means to be a biblical father/mother is also being considered as potential courses are being reviewed.

Expanding the La Palabra high school in this way will require the addition of a computer lab with about 30 computers and desks and potentially necessitate the addition of two classrooms on their second floor (La Palabra is already outgrowing current classroom space).

What a blessing to see La Palabra continuing to grow in its capacity to provide Christian education for children in Monjas. Please be in prayer for Word & Deed and AMG (Word & Deed’s partner in Guatemala) as this new phase of growth is being planned.
