ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER:
With the Lord’s blessing, over 400 riders at 30 locations have participated in the Annual Coast to Coast Bike-a-thon over the last few years and have raised over $675,000 CAD/ $500,000 USD for our partners in South Africa!

Join us again this year either independently or with a local team to help us reach our goal of $100,000 CAD / $75,000 USD for the Nakekela HIV/AIDS Clinic and the Musawenkosi Christian Academy (MCA) in South Africa. These projects help alleviate, educate, and care for a community struggling with the impact of HIV / AIDS physically and spiritually. Thank you for participating and making a world of difference.

This year, we’re planning to bike on Saturday, June 1. In the past, teams have biked as little as 10 km, all the way up to 50 km+ in their local areas.

Why We Bike:
THE NAKEKELA HIV/ AIDS CLINIC

The Nakekela Clinic is a step-down clinic for HIV/AIDS patients in KwaMhlanga, South Africa, an area where the HIV/AIDS infection rate is over 50%. There are 20 beds in the clinic and a staff of nurses and doctors. Staff members visit and assess not only potential patients but also follow up with those who have already been discharged. Staff members also care for about 1500 patients annually through the home-based care program. The purpose of the clinic is to treat HIV/AIDS patients and to alleviate the horrible symptoms that accompany the disease while bringing the Word of God to the afflicted.

THE MUKAWENKOSI CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (MCA)

The Mukawenkosi Christian Academy is currently located on the grounds of the Mukhanyo Theological College in Kwamahlanga, South Africa. They are a K-7 grade school with about 110 students, 80% of which are impacted by some physical disability or family vulnerability. Many times these children come from homes affected by AIDS or they themselves have the HIV virus. By supporting the school’s operating costs you are assisting a broken generation to receive a Christian education, allowing them a different worldview than one of continual sadness.
