Word & Deed strives to come alongside Christian schools and home schooling families by helping students gain a better understanding of what it means to love their neighbor (Matthew 22:39).
This includes facilitating student encounters with the real-world realities that many Christians face around the world, and by providing information about how they can become involved and make an impact.
Chapel
Our staff is willing to speak at a school chapel when we are in your area.
Group Presentations
We offer in-class presentations that challenge students’ thinking on various topics such as ‘A Biblical View of Poverty’ or ‘Christian Persecution’. We are happy to present to your entire student body or to a particular group or class.
Country Education Videos
We have a variety of educational country videos and packages that are targeted toward ages 10-15. The videos are around 10 minutes long and are educational, missional, and cross-curricular. They touch on topics related to geography, history, religion, culture, and ministry projects. There is a special persecution video and package that you may request directly from Word & Deed by emailing office@wordanddeed.org.
WATCH THE VIDEOS
The videos are stand-alone. You can watch the videos here: Country Education Playlist
FURTHER STUDY – USING READY-MADE OPTIONAL COUNTRY PACKAGES.
Each country package includes questions and answers from the video and an online article or two to read for further study. Teachers can pick and choose which components of the package they would like to use. All the necessary materials are ready to be sent on to students (the package includes an answer key for teachers). The packages can be found here: Country Education Packages
Ministry Support
Schools or individual classrooms and homeschool families can get involved in people’s lives in the developing world in a tangible way. There are multiple options to choose from:
SPONSOR A CHILD

GIVING HOPE CAMPAIGN
In November and December, Word & Deed will have a gift catalog that includes various items at different price points that your school can raise funds to “purchase.” Challenge your school by picking a large item to raise funds for. This would be a good way to promote some school spirit and maybe a little friendly class competition. Some example items from the past have been: Bibles, meals for a student, school supplies for a student for one year, a sewing machine, a motorcycle for a pastor, drill a well. Visit wordanddeed.org/givinghope for more details on the latest campaign.
HUNGER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Each Spring, Word & Deed organizes a 24-hour Hunger Awareness Month. Schools are asked to choose a day within that month in which to participate in a 24-hour fast, which reminds them of children in the developing world who often go hungry. Students ask for pledges for the 24-hours that they don’t eat, and the funds raised are used to fund children’s nutrition programs run by Word & Deed partners. Schools are encouraged to have students share their experience with faculty members and to arrange for participants to break their fast with a shared meal. Here is an information poster that you can share with your school for our 2025 campaign: 2025 Hunger Awareness Campaign
“Word & Deed took the initiative to work out a very important project that would place theology books in the hands of pastors across Latin America… I wish to congratulate Word & Deed for their sensitivity to such fundamental needs in the church of Latin America. Good theology will produce healthy churches. We need to always work on the foundations. On behalf of CLIR, we look forward to continued cooperation in the future.”
“Praise God for what He is doing to expand Christian education and the opportunity to witness for Christ among the Muslims in Indonesia. We pray that He will continue to use us as a tool to bring more people to Christ and to grow his church in this nation.”
“In school, I have been taught the Word of God, which is very important to my life and that of my family. I feel happy because the teachers at La Palabra treat me very well.”
“We can only say thanks, because without a doubt, the Family Protection Team arrived at the right time. We felt listened to, understood, and above all we were able to recognize that God is the basis of our home. With Him restoration becomes complete and we can be a happy family.”
Dear friends at Word & Deed, I want to thank you for all your love and kindness. Thank you for allowing me to attend the after-school program. Because I go there, I can learn about the Lord. I have learned to trust him, to have faith in his promises, and that he will never leave me alone. Blessings!
It has been a great joy to feel the Lord’s presence at work and in the lives of the children we serve. Your prayers and support have been our strength and encouragement.
