Schools or individual classrooms and homeschool families can get involved in people’s lives in the developing world in a tangible way. There are multiple options to choose from:
SPONSOR A CHILD
GIVING HOPE CAMPAIGN
In November and December, Word & Deed will have a gift catalog that includes various items at different price points that your school can raise funds to “purchase.” Challenge your school by picking a large item to raise funds for. This would be a good way to promote some school spirit and maybe a little friendly class competition. Some example items from the past have been: Bibles, meals for a student, school supplies for a student for one year, a sewing machine, a motorcycle for a pastor, drill a well.
HUNGER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Each Spring W&D sponsors a 24-hour hunger awareness day. Students ask for pledges for the 24 hours they don’t eat, and the funds raised are used to feed needy children in the developing world. Schools are encouraged to have students share their experience with a faculty sponsor and to arrange for participants to break their fast with a shared meal.
