Kenya
The country of Kenya is located in East Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean. The country has many national parks and reserves. People come from around the world to see the abundant wildlife. Coffee is an important export in Kenya, yet many people don’t drink it because of its high value–they would rather sell it than drink it! Many people consider Kenya to be a Christian nation. There are many churches there, but basic biblical knowledge is lacking for most people and even for many pastors.

Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS)
Last year, RTS expanded to a four-classroom building, but its impact expands much further than the size of the building, spreading the Reformed faith in SW Kenya. Word & Deed helps to pay the salaries of the three staff members– including a librarian so that students can access the library regularly. Word & Deed has also partnered with the seminary to bring biblical knowledge to the pastors through access to the Mukhanyo Seminary extension program. One of the Mukhanyo offerings is a diploma program where pastors with advanced learning can continue their theological studies. The other program is geared toward pastors, church leaders, and teachers who want to increase their biblical knowledge through a modular program so they can be better equipped to bring the Word of God to their fellow church members. In the last couple of years, Word & Deed has funded 10 wells in communities where clean water was necessary due to unsuitable local sources. Word & Deed has also helped with multiple food and seed distributions, and agricultural training efforts to help alleviate food insecurity.
