Cyclone Freddy Hits Malawi

The southern region of Malawi was devastated by flood waters and mudslides last week as Cyclone Freddy wreaked havoc in this already needy country. Over 400 people have died as a result of the cyclone and several hundred people have been declared missing. Numerous people sustained injuries in the flooding and over 400,000 people have been displaced and lost their homes. Many of the affected victims are in the areas of churches that have received Logos training over the last several years. Word & Deed has sent $20,000 USD in initial relief funds. These funds will be used to help provide food, blankets, and hygiene supplies to be distributed by the Logos team in partnership with the local churches. Please pray for the people in Malawi who were impacted by these floods. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling” Ps 46:1-3.
